I am pleased to announce that Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki has appointed Father Adam Fernandez, SMA, the administrator of St. Joseph Parish, effective July 15, 2021.
Father Adam comes to us with the experience of having been a missionary in Africa, pastor of a parish with a school, and has a love for education. He is looking forward to coming to our parish and being your shepherd. I know that you will extend to him a warm welcome for which our parish community is known. Please give him time to acclimate himself to our parish and the Wauwatosa area.
I know he will joyfully guide our parish into the future as he follows the movement of the Holy Spirit!
I wish to thank all of you for making the past five years a wonderful experience for me. It has been a great joy to serve as your shepherd and to get to know you and be a part of your lives. I have been blessed beyond words to have been a part of this community of faith which is so vibrant.
As I mentioned in a recent parish bulletin it has been my policy that when I leave a parish not to have any type of farewell celebration. On July 21, 2016, I quietly arrived in the parish and quietly I wish to leave. It is important to me that the focus be on Father Adam as he assumes the leadership position. This makes for smooth transition.
Please make time to enjoy the beauty of our Wisconsin summer. Relax in the gift of God’s creation so as to continue to experience his outrageous love for you! Remember that nature is our teacher and it reveals so to us about our generous and loving God.
Know that I will continue to keep St. Joseph’s Parish in my prayers and hold all of you near and dear to my heart. Once again, my deepest and sincerest thanks for making this an adventure beyond words!
In the Heart of Christ,
Fr. Dennis, July 11, 2021
