Formation Volunteer Needs

In order to support our community of faith at St. Joseph, we need volunteers to help guide those in their faith journeys. Please see the following roles in which volunteers are currently needed.

Rite of Initiation for Children Catechist

This person is one who loves children and would like to foster their growth in their faith. Specifically, this person helps children who are preparing to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church through either receiving all the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, first Communion, and Confirmation) or receiving first Communion and confirmation. These sacraments are received at the Easter vigil. The catechist is one who works with the children on a regular basis beginning in August or September and proceeding until the Easter vigil. The catechist is supported in this with materials for each session and by help from the adult director. The role is flexible. The catechist can sign up for only certain sessions if others are inconvenient. Click here to volunteer!

Elementary Co-Catechists

We need catechists for grades 1st, 3st, 4th, 6th, and 7th

This person should enjoy working with children and be willing to kindly support their faith education. All topics for classes, activities and resources are provided. There is no experience necessary, just a willingness to be patient and fun. Catechists work in two-person teams for Safe Environment and flexibility purposes. The time commitment is minimal. Catechists must be able to make the majority of classes. They also need to put in preparation time for class (however much you deem necessary). All catechists are required to complete a background check, Safe Environment training, and code of ethics review. Click here to volunteer!
