Ushers Play Key Role in Celebration of the Mass

Ushers, also known as ministers of hospitality, play a vital role in extending hospitality and assistance to parishioners and visitors during Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wauwatosa.

  • Ushers greet people as they enter church and respond to questions or needs.
  • Ushers take up the collection – the offering.
  • Ushers direct people in lining up for Communion.
  • Ushers assist people during medical situations.
  • Ushers pass out bulletins.

Ushers work a specific Mass for a month, then have two months off, although they are encouraged to help out when Masses are in need of ushering help.
